Bob Dylan wrote and recorded a now famous song called The Times They Are a-Changin’ as an anthem to express the changes going on in the early 1960s. Just as his song served as history of the changes, so too does this blog post serve as post of change, although on a much smaller scale.
The Greater Cincinnati Chinese Chamber of Commerce moved Feb. 3 from its location at the Barnes Dennig offices — 150 E. 4th St. Third Floor — to offices down the street at 1106 Race St. Suite 2. Please make note of the change.
The story goes as such:
In December, Barnes Dennig officials sent a letter to the Chinese chamber saying it will merge with another firm and hire several new employees to keep up with new business. Chamber officials were pleased to hear the news from Barnes Dennig. Nevertheless, it indeed meant that the chamber had to move, and quickly. Thankfully, Barnes Dennig allowed for 60 days before we had to be out.
After a month-long search, David Le with the Lang Thang Group stepped forward and offered some space for the chamber to reside. The Lang Thang Group is the umbrella company that houses Café Lang Thang, Pho Lang Thang and Quan Happa; three restaurants in the OTR area. So, Feb. 3, after the 2014 Lunar New Year Gala, the chamber office staff and interns picked up all the old stuff from Barnes Dennig and moved it to our new space across the street from the School for Creative and Performing Arts.
We hope to be here for the long-term, because moving is never fun. It takes a lot of time and effort, which we would much rather spend on improving programs and relations throughout the community. Slowly but surely, we’ll be back in the swing again.
“The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’.”
